Bed Bath: Some Caregiving Notes Before Giving One

bed-bath-some-caregiving-notes-before-giving-one

Bathing is not just personal care. It is a personal experience.

Unfortunately, something simple as bathing can be difficult for someone with mobility issues. Patients who are bed-bound will need a different approach to hygiene.

A bed bath or sponge bath can do the trick.

  • To ensure health and hygiene, you can give your older loved ones a bed bath around twice or thrice each week. Too much bathing is not good for their sensitive skin. This can lead to skin problems such as sores. For younger individuals, there can be more frequent bed baths as long as they do not have any skin issues or problems with blood flow.
  • Always prepare what you need in advance. Washcloths, bath sponges, towels, water basins, soap, and a table must be on the side. To keep the bed dry, place a waterproof sheet under the patient. Try to talk with the person and make them comfortable.
  • Whenever you need help, your Home Health Aide in Maryland can help give a bed bath to your homebound loved one.
